May 3, 2009 - Loomis to welcome Pro Circuit tennis tournament players

The Del Oro High School Tennis Complex, 3301 Taylor Rd., will be alive with action June 6 through Father’s Day, June 14, when the 2009 Recoating West USTA Men’s Professional Tennis Tournament comes to town. Residents from Loomis and surrounding communities are invited to visit, participate, and follow the young pros – all at no charge.

The tournament, with a $15,000 purse, is part of the United States Tennis Association, (USTA), and represents the fastest-growing sport in America, according to a recent survey by the Sporting Goods Manufacturing Assn. of the United States. This year, the main events include:

  • KIDS’ Day on Saturday, June 6 from 8:30 until noon. Kids ages 6 through 12 are invited to an exciting morning of ‘QUICK-Start’ tennis led by Sacramento Capital’s Coach, Wayne Bryan. There is no charge; registration must be made in advance on the tournament website at: www.rwiprocircuit.org. Prizes and free lunch will also be featured.
  • Ladies PRO-Am on Tuesday, June 9 at 8:30 a.m. Keynote sponsor of this day is Edward Jones at Gene Delyon of Rocklin. Monies donated this day will be directed towards local charities. Log onto www.procircuit.org for registration details.
  • Match play featuring professional players throughout the week of June 6 through 10; qualifying matches will begin on Thursday, June 11 with finals on Sunday, June 14.

Tournament proceeds will benefit the high school’s tennis programs, as well as local charities. This is the eighth year for the pro circuit tournament to be featured in Placer County and the third year for the Del Oro Tennis Facility. USTA is the largest PRO Circuit in the world and sponsor of the famed US Open every summer in New York. “Local involvement is key to the success of these tournaments and the reason we get involved year after year,” said Dennis Wingate, president of Recoating West, Loomis, keynote sponsor of the tournament.

Del Oro anticipates the tournament will continue to be a regular part of the school’s summer schedule. For complete tournament information and schedule, please visit online at: www.rwiprocircuit.org
